Dear Parents and Students,
Wishing you once again a happy and healthy New Year. We, at HSVD, are aware that there have been some disruptions in our online classes recently. These are due to students sharing devices or sharing their login information. We are doing everything we can to identify where there are issues and to resolve them immediately. Please encourage your child to alert and inform their teacher, admin if they see, hear or observe anything inappropriate. Thank you for your understanding, patience and cooperation.

The High School for Violin and Dance is a small school that offers every student classes in string orchestra and dance. No prior experience is necessary. Music students study violin, bass, cello or viola. Dance students sample modern, jazz, tap, hip hop and ballet. We are a close-knit community of learners where everyone gets to know everyone else. Teachers know their students, involve their parents and care-givers, and want only the best for everyone in our community.
Preparing students for college or the work place is our primary goal. We accomplish this by getting to know the dreams and aspirations of our students and helping them achieve them. We are more than teachers at High School for Violin and Dance - we are coaches, mentors, leaders and friends. Come for a visit to see the difference.
A healthy mind requires a healthy body. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch at our school. Our meals are different than at other New York City schools. Our school is piloting a new program called scratch cooking. Scratch cooking means that our kitchen receives fresh ingredients every day and each meal is cooked fresh that day. No other New York City school has this program at this time. The food is healthy, tasty and sets students up for success in the classroom.
